On November 4, 2020, Pasado’s Safe Haven responded to another large-scale cat hoarding situation involving 47 animals. Sadly, it was a scene we are too familiar with; a deplorable home covered in feces and urine, and cats with terrible infections and other ailments needing immediate medical attention. It was one of the worst levels of ammonia our rescue team has ever experienced; their eyes were burning and watering just in the short time they were in the home. The suffering the cats endured inside the home for years is unimaginable. Tragically, several deceased cats were found upon arrival that were unable to survive in the horrific conditions.

All the cats were taken to our sanctuary and received treatment and medical care. Our team worked hard to stabilize each one and give them a fighting chance at recovery. We are happy to share that many of the cats have been adopted into loving homes, while many are still at our sanctuary patiently waiting for a family. Learn more about adoption here.

The previous month, we responded to a similar case involving 31 cats that were also living in deplorable conditions due to hoarding. For too many of these cases, Pasado’s Safe Haven is the only hope for these suffering animals. Our skilled team is trained to respond to cases like these and fight hard to get animals out of these situations as quickly as possible. Because of generous supporters like you, we are able to rescue cats from these horrific conditions. Your support makes rescues like these happen! If you are able to, please donate to support rescue costs and medical care for these animals, and all of our work to end animal cruelty.

Thank you to our partners Whatcom Humane Society and Center Valley Animal Rescue for helping make this rescue possible!
