On October 14, 2020, Pasado’s Safe Haven responded to a large-scale cat hoarding situation involving 31 animals. Our trained rescue team was on scene supporting the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office in saving these precious lives. These cats were living in deplorable conditions with trash piled high, and feces and urine everywhere. Tragically, 15 cats were found deceased upon our arrival; thankfully we arrived when we did and were able to rush the remaining cats and kittens to our sanctuary.

Many needed immediate medical care and suffered from severe upper respiratory infections, open wounds, dehydration and were visibly thin. Several kittens had such severe infections they couldn’t open their little eyes. Our team worked tirelessly to stabilize and evaluate each cat. We are happy to share that many of the cats have been adopted into loving homes, while many are still at our sanctuary patiently waiting for a family. Learn more about cat adoption.

Thank you for making it possible for us to protect animals and save lives!
