The need for low cost and free spay and neutering was felt all over Washington

Pasado's Spay Stations offer spaying and neutering services at low cost of free to those who qualify
In Pasado’s Safe Haven’s home base of Washington State alone, more than 60,000 healthy dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies are euthanized each year. No matter how many shelters attempt to adopt animals, there are simply not enough homes. When it comes to pet over-population, it is the unwanted dogs, cats, and litters, born in low-income areas, who fill shelters.
When Pasado’s was founded, there were no free or low-cost pet sterilization services that brought spay/neuter surgeries directly into low-income neighborhoods. This was an enormous “void” that Pasado’s felt it had to address. At the time, a cat spay was well over $100, today it could be as much as $300. We needed to make pet sterilization available, easy, and above all free.
The Spay Station – an expensive program and well worth it

The Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation has generously granted Pasado's the funds to perform spay and neuter services for one year!
While amazing donors built these mobile miracles, ongoing support from people like you, keep them on the road.
No matter what the cost, it was critical to help those animals who never had the chance to visit a veterinary clinic. We considered this vital program an investment in the future – less unwanted animals would be born, and thus, less would be euthanized in our area shelters.
How the Spay Station works:
Services are provided by a professional staff that includes a licensed Veterinarian and licensed Veterinary Technician, trained in high-volume spay and neuter surgery, in a state of the art, mobile clinic. This clinic has a complete surgical room and recovery area. We follows strict protocols and standards, that make the safety of your pet our #1 priority.
We provide services first to low-income individuals, as this is our priority. If there is room on-board for those not on public assistance, services are provided at low cost. All supportive medical care such as flea control, vaccinations, de-worming, ear mite medication, and micro-chipping are cash only services priced for all income levels. (The Pierce County Spay Station has received a generous grant from the Gary E. Milgard Foundation that allows us to offer many of these services free of charge to qualified families who are on public assistance-see details on the Pierce County Schedule page.
The Spay Station I and II have provided tens of thousands of free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries.
Spay Station I is now servicing Pierce County as of March 2011 thanks to a very generous donation from the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation. Read more here.
Spay Station II is currently awaiting funding.
