In the span of a week, Pasado’s Safe Haven rescued 27 cats – including 16 kittens – from multiple hoarding situations. Some of the cats were living among piles of garbage, furniture and feces, and others had been shut inside a small, dark room their entire life. Tragically, we found deceased cats that were unable to survive in the conditions at one of the rescue sites. Our team worked quickly and we are thankful to have brought the cats to safety at our sanctuary.

The cats are suffering from a range of health issues including upper respiratory infections, eye infections and parasites. Our veterinary team provided immediate care to get them stable and we will perform dental and spay/neuter surgeries on those who need it. We will provide ongoing medical care to get them healthy enough to find forever families.

Right now we are in the middle of an unprecedented kitten season. We typically see more kittens this time of year, but we are facing a frightening increase in the number of kittens ending up in shelters or needing rescue. Many are sick and need care. Shelters and rescues in our region are overwhelmed as we all try to make room and provide the care they need.

How you can help right now:

  • DONATE: Most of our funding comes from individual donors like you, so we literally cannot do this work without you. Any amount will make a difference for these 27 cats and all of our work to end animal cruelty.
  • SEND CAT FOOD AND SUPPLIES: We are using a lot of canned food, litter boxes and food trays. You can send supplies directly to our sanctuary through our Amazon and Chewy wish lists.
  • ADOPT OR FOSTER: We are actively looking for families to adopt or foster the amazing animals at our sanctuary. For every cat adopted into a loving home, we are able to rescue another.

We can’t thank you enough for your continued support, which makes these rescues possible.
