Nine pigs are now protected at our animal sanctuary and out of harm’s way.
We recently rescued this large pig family from a domestic violence case. We had received a call from a domestic violence victim who was trying to escape her abuser but had nine pigs and did not want to leave them behind. Her abuser had killed one of her pigs as their relationship became more abusive.
Domestic violence situations are extremely volatile and can be uniquely dangerous for animals living in the household. Perpetrators often torture or kill animals as a way to inflict emotional pain on their partners. Your support allows us to respond to cases like this.
The victim had reached out to many rescues nationwide and no one was able to help. We are grateful we were able to make the space for all nine pigs and bring them to safety. They are in good shape and settling in well. They are all very sweet and social, and love belly rubs and treats!
