Our Investigations & Rescue Team responded on-scene 10/12/22 to a large rescue at an overrun breeding situation in eastern Washington state. We safely rescued 40 English Labradors. The breeder in this case had previously tried to find homes for their dogs, but were unable to get help due to the current capacity crisis in our shelters. As the problem worsened, law enforcement became involved and the Pend Oreille Sheriff’s Office reached out to us for assistance.
Pasado’s Safe Haven is uniquely positioned to respond to a large-scale rescue like this in a remote location in our state. We are one of the only organizations that responds state-wide and we have the trained staff and resources that allows us to handle this type of rescue.

We met a number of local animal organizations on Wednesday night to help take in many of the dogs, including Rescue4All, Homeward Pet, NOAH, Center Valley Animal Rescue, PAWS, Mason County Humane Society, RASKC, Spokane Humane Society, and WAG. Our team coordinated the transport and we had to rent 4 large vehicles to get everyone to safety.
We brought 8 young dogs to our sanctuary who are receiving care. Thankfully, they appear to be fairly healthy and many are social. We are treating parasites and they will all need spay/neuter surgeries. Many are receiving their first bath and medical exam.
The dogs will be available for adoption soon. Our biggest need right now is supplies and donations. Please consider making a donation today to support this rescue and all of our work to end animal cruelty. Your generosity makes this work possible.
