We need your help to fill our barns with hay for the winter. Supply chain issues have significantly impacted hay prices again this year and we are facing a nearly 40% price increase over last year alone. We have spent $10,700 on hay in the last two months, and need to purchase another $10,000 just to get us through December.
The sanctuary is fully hay-dependent. Every day, the 100+ farm animals in our care rely on hay for food and bedding. We have also doubled the size of our cow herd this year, with 8 large (and very hungry!) cows now safe at our sanctuary. With the colder temperatures approaching, we need more hay to keep everyone warm and well fed.
It is not just hay that we are seeing an enormous price increase on; produce is also being significantly impacted by supply chain. We typically spend $500 per month on fresh produce to augment the donated produce we receive, but are now paying well over $1,200 for the same amount. Many of the animals at our sanctuary were rescued from starvation and abuse. They need consistent, high-quality food for their recovery and comfort. Your support will help us provide this.
We are working now to fill our barns to get us through the winter. Please consider making a donation to help us cover this unexpected cost! The animals – and our entire team – thank you for your support.
