All stories are "gently" told - even though many of our animals are rescued from terrible conditions. We assure that every story is written to bring a smile to your gift recipient.

Barack O’Llama
#1 Gift Sponsorship!
As Seen on CNN! He's famous!
Republicans love to give their Democratic friends this gift adoption (we see many comments about Barack's "ears" in their personal note they ask us to write to their Dem -friends!). And Democrats love to give Barack as a sponsorship to their Republican friends, "rubbing it in" that he's also #1 in our sponsorship polls! Either way, OUR Barack wins - with costs for his food and vet care underwritten!
His life started in poverty, living with a man who didn’t have the means to care for him. Barack was loved, but never given proper nutrition, or a hair-cut – important for on-camera purposes for sure, but also because a llama can over-heat in the summer. He was covered in lice when he arrived.
Barack is fully recovered now, and loved for life at Pasado's. Vote for this boy and you’ll be bringing one lucky adoption recipient, of any political persuasion, a truly unique gift!

Eddie Cheddar
He was just a baby and so very cold and hungry when PasadoRescuers met him. It was Thanksgiving week-- the time when humans fill their bellies with all kinds of comfort foods. But this little guy was left with no food or water, just like Little Angel, seen above. Both came from the same house of horrors.
Each week, Pasado’s cruelty investigator answers approximately 30 cruelty calls where help is needed to save animals who are being hurt, abused or neglected.
Eddie is one of the lucky survivors who now lives happily at the Pasado’s sanctuary. Sponsor him as a gift, and we promised you, when you visit, he'll let you rub and rub his soft, brown neck and will lay his beautiful head in your arms for hours if you let him! And bring carrots, his favorite treat!

Buford
An elderly woman had kept a female and male goat for years. They lived in ankle-deep mud, with no shelter through the rainy and cold Northwest winters as well as the heat of every summer. A kind neighbor was the only person who fed and watered them. They never received medical care. Until Pasado's rescued them.
We named the daddy goat Cletis, and mama, Flo. The little babies became known as D’aryl & Buford. From sadness to peace, Buford and his family now roam green pastures and sleep in a warm bed of straw at night. Finally, they are home. Finally, they know what love feels like.
Your gift sponsorship of Buford will bring him all the carrots and dried apricots he could ever want - they're his favorite treat!

Babs
This sweet girl came to Pasado's after being used by three men for rodeo practice. The men, using ATV's (all terrain vehicles) would circle her and practice roping her around the neck. She was petrified of people when we met her - and who could blame her? But after time with the gentlest of souls at Pasado's, she has recovered, both emotionally and physically (her hooves were in horrible condition).
Your gift sponsorship helps keep her on medication that she needs for a chronic disease, caused by long-term neglect.
Sponsoring any of our beautiful, rescued animals means you can visit them! And when it comes to Babs, bring her an apple! You'll make friends for life!

Gift Sponsorship Hint!
Babs and Chester, below, arrived the same week at Pasado's Safe Haven's sanctuary, and were petrified of humans - and who could blame them (once you read Chester's story, too). They bonded immediately. Chester used Babs as his "seeing eye donkey" as he is nearly completely blind. They became inseparable and will never be adopted because Pasado's has truly become their forever-home. They're like an old married couple, who squabble over food or if one lays down and rolls over on the other, they'll whinnie or bray at the other. But just try and separate them! They put up such a ruckus you can hear it from miles away!
Sponsoring them as a pair, make a great gift! |

Chester
Chester came from a horrible domestic violence situation: when his owner became angry at his wife, he beat Chester, her pony, to cause her pain. We were told that he wanted to "show her what he could do to her". He beat Chester so often and so hard, Chester's retinas became detached - he is almost completely blind. The man also broke Chester's jaw and left his teeth mangled.

Bessie
Bessie had given birth about every 9 months for 8 years. She was considered a "spent milker" meaning, the dairy farmer who owned her thought she wasn't' giving enough milk (100 lbs a day required of today's dairy farms) to warrant keeping. So she was sent for slaughter. Milk cows are kept in a constant state of pregnancy, with no rest, to give the vast quantities of milk the consuming public demands. This is why they look the way they do - walking bones. You'd expect to find this in a third-world country, but it's every-day business at dairy farms in the U.S.
We brought Bessie to Pasado's Safe Haven, where she'll will live out her days. She's already put on about 50 pounds and looks SO good!
Bessie, left, the day we rescued her. She was skin and bone. But you should see her now!

Daisy
She gave a beef farmer his best calves for 13 years. When her udders became infected so badly, she couldn't walk to get out of the rain or to her food, he just let her lie in a field to die. When we rescued Daisy, she was skin and bone and she was so sick the vet told us to euthanize her. But the look in Daisy's eyes told us not to give up. And we didn't. Within two months, she gained 125 pounds. The "bed sores" that covered her body from laying in one position for so long, went away.
Daisy will live at Pasado's sanctuary for the rest of her days and your gift sponsorship would help us continue to give her the veterinary care she will always need.
When you sponsor Daisy you receive visiting privileges...and for all of us here at Pasado's Safe Haven, who saw what horrible condition Daisy arrived in (and she was so afraid of people - the farmer, the only human she knew, took her babies from her, branded her, put her in a cattle chute to inject antibiotics in her - no wonder she was afraid of people...)...to see people who sponsor her visit her, and bring her carrots and apples and other treats, makes us cry - every time. Thank you, for what you might consider doing for her, or any one of our beautiful charges in our care.

Cotton
A man who owned sheep and didn't appear to give a lick about them, let them live in a pasture for years with no shelter. In the Pacific Northwest, this meant these gentle animals lived through pouring rain, sometimes snow, and in the summer, temperatures nearing 90+ degrees.
Pasado's Safe Haven rescued the sheep and met "Cotton", who went through a Spring cleaning - shearing, hooves cleaned, ears given the once over. And we found out Cotton was a girl!
Although she had an exquisite day of beauty, she's was so afraid. We felt so sorry for her- she lost all of her friends and now she was in a new, strange place. But we've met hundreds of frightened animals who have come to us. With time, patience, and a gentle touch, they always come to trust. We know Cotton will be eating out of our hands soon.
