Meet the Dogs:

Brandy
Brandy sat alone in her silent world - older and deaf, she was passed by day after day for the younger more enthusiastic dogs.
Like the hundreds of lives Pasado's Safe Haven has rescued since it was founded, Brandy was given a second chance at love and life. She was brought to Dog Town at A.A.R.F.F. at Pasado's Safe Haven and she fit right in. No animal lives in a cage or kennel at Pasado's - she, like all of her pals, can roam gentle, shaded paths that course through acres of woodlands and peace. The dogs share heated cabins in the woods, inhabited by 6-8 other senior woofers. (There is a LOT of snoring going on in the evenings!)

Gypsy
Scared and confused, Gypsy sat behind bars of a local shelter, waiting for a friendly face. Her only crime had been that she loved to play and play - she lives for a tennis ball or a tug-toy. But when Pasado's found her, she had nothing in her cage to bring her just one, tiny ray of happiness. But the bad days were over for Gypsy. She was rescued from death row, saving her from euthanasia. She is now awash in toys in Dog Towne at Pasado's Safe Haven's A.A.R.F.F. - where she roams 28 fences acres with other grey-muzzled, blind, deaf, or incontinent dogs.

Dasher
Dasher arrived at Pasado’s Safe Haven with a broken heart. His owner and best friend of the past 8 years had just passed away, leaving him in the custody of the remaining family. They didn’t want him and decided to dump him at the local shelter, without even leaving his name.
Alone and scared, he laid on the cold shelter floor, waiting for his beloved Master to come. Because he was 8 years old, people passed him by to adopt the younger dogs.
Will, our fearless dog caretaker, scours shelters for animals who await euthanasia simply because they are old, or have a disease or injury that requires costly medical care. Pasado's Safe Haven opened A.A.R.F.F., The American Association of Retired Felines & Fidos, one of the first old dog & cat sanctuaries in the U.S. - because of animals like Dasher - who have so much more living to do.

Colby
A meter reader from a power company stumbled on this dog and couldn’t turn his back on him: he had no hair on his body after being left outside in the elements through the heat of summer and the cold of winter, with no shelter. He was severely emaciated and desperately needed veterinary care: his paw was horribly infected and he was suffering.
The meter reader called animal control, to no avail. Then, his neighbor suggested calling Pasado’s Safe Haven. The next day Colby was at our sanctuary and on his way to healing.

 Colby Before: (left)
He barely had any hair on his body. We still cannot believe how he must have suffered, tied up, outside, living through all seasons with no shelter. You should see his beautiful coat today!
Sponsoring Colby will help us
care for animals like him that
have suffered needlessly.
Colby's story of survival, and happy ending, would make a great gift for someone!
Could you give your friend or loved one a better gift? We don't think so. And Colby agrees!

Max
Despite his 11 years, Max believes he’s on his second chance at life. He was scheduled for euthanasia at a shelter, simply because he was old, and considered unadoptable. But then a Pasado’s Safe Haven heard about this senior boy and came to the rescue.
Max is a great example of how the old ones comes to A.A.R.F.F. and thrive. With proper nutrition and the best medical care, they blossom. We can barely keep up with Max now. He runs the hills in A.A.R.F.F. and leads the pack. You’d never know that he has arthritis – and we think he doesn’t know it either!
