Sosa is a big league sweetheart who loves playing in the park, catching a fly ball, or snuggling with a special someone during the off season. This sweet spaniel mix hopes to hit a grand slam and run for home to his forever family...
Sweet Sosa can’t wait to step up to the plate and hit one out of the park as someone’s devoted companion. Sosa is a five-year-old black-and-white spaniel mix who loves attention. His striking coat and sleek ears are a stunning combination, and it’s hard to resist those piercing blue eyes! Sosa would rather steal your heart than steal home, and while we see what an amazing boy Sosa is, someone had tried to put him on the bench – permanently. This handsome hound was found as a stray and when we met him at an area shelter, it was the ninth inning for Sosa and he was down to his last out.
When Sosa came to us, he was on the “disabled list.” Mara, our dog caretaker, explained how far he has come. “Sosa grabbed my attention at the shelter because of his bark- it sounded unusually desperate and pleading. His pale blue eyes stared back at me from behind the bars, begging me to get him out of there. His back end was entirely bald due to flea allergies that had gone untreated. As a stray, there’s no way to know how long he endured the severe flea infestation.” After a healthy Dog Towne regimen, though, this home run hound is back in the rotation and has a clean bill of health.
During Sosa’s first days at Dog Towne, he was very anxious and barked constantly. After quality one-on-one time with Mara, Sosa realized that he was safe. He stopped barking incessantly and with his new, quiet demeanor, he also found his voice. Sosa has learned that wagging his tail gets him more attention than barking, and he’ll wag it as vigorously as possible.
Sosa is learning the joy of playing fetch and loves a good round of tug-o-war. He’s a snuggler who will crawl right into your lap, curling up like a cat. As a former stray, Sosa does experience separation anxiety, but having a loving home would give him the security he seeks. Sosa pulls on the leash, but he’s very eager to learn. He already knows the commands for "sit" and "lay down" and he’s ready for more lessons. This happy hound is a team player who gets along with other dogs, but we don't recommend a household with cats.
Sosa is a medium-sized boy with a World Series-sized heart. Can you help him feel like the MVP that he is? If you think that Sosa would be a good fit with your family,
