As a nonprofit organization, our volunteers are the heart and soul of all that we do.
Volunteer Barry L. is a very familiar face here at Pasado’s Dog Towne. He is referred to as “warm and friendly” by those who work with him, and there’s no doubt about it: he loves the dogs here – and they love him. He puts his heart and soul into all that he does, and we feel so fortunate to have him here.
Barry is a dedicated volunteer who cares deeply about the dogs who he works with. According to Pasado’s Volunteer Director, Virginia B., “Barry loves the dogs so much that he checked in with me twice during his vacation. And another time, when he ended up at the hospital and almost lost his life, he was calling to check on Lilly and apologizing for not being here for all the dogs. He is amazing!”
We certainly agree, and the dogs always respond to his warmth and kindness. When he can’t be here at the sanctuary, he asks other staff members and volunteers to give them some love from him and he checks on them frequently. Here at Pasado’s, we understand how the animals remain on your mind, and we are touched by Barry’s vigilance.
Barry now brings his friend, Lesley, with him to Dog Towne, and the two volunteers share their weekly dog walking sessions. When he’s not spending time with our happy hounds, Barry is a go-to guy who will help out with last-minute requests. He regularly volunteers to do miscellaneous sanctuary tasks like picking up donated cars and dropping off supplies. Sometimes, as he’s leaving the sanctuary, there’s “just one more thing” that we need to have done – and he’s always happy to do it.
Barry and his partner, Scott, have both assisted with our last two sanctuary tours, and Barry has attended most of our recent dog adoption events. Barry has manned the helm at several of our booths during events, and he and Scott also led one of the caravans for last month’s Home for the HOWLidays.
But Barry’s help doesn’t end there! As a professional landscaper, he was able to get some plants donated and provide other plants at cost to help spruce up the sanctuary. Volunteering is truly rewarding for him – and it shows!
A heartfelt thank you to Barry for all that he does for Pasado’s. Barry, we truly appreciate all that you do – and so do the animals who have come to know you so well.
