Mama, who mothered so many of our Kitty City residents, succumbed to cancer over the holidays. While we are heartbroken over her loss, we will honor her memory by continuing to rescue, rehabilitate, and mother those who need our help the most...
The past year was particularly difficult here at Misty’s
Kitty City, as we lost several of our longtime
residents to cancer and age-related ailments.
After Mama was diagnosed with terminal cancer,
we vowed to make sure that her last days were
filled with love and comfort. Her condition
required vigilance and constant medical support.
Beautiful Mama was sweet, sassy, and attentive. With her unique
personality, stump tail and beautiful markings, she was attractive from the inside out. Like a true mama, she was one of the first Kitty City residents to welcome you at the door. She would rub affectionately against your leg, tell you about her day, and watch your every movement. Mama shared her loving, happy nature
with all who visited, but it was with our other residents
where she truly left her mark.
Mama mothered many of our Kitty City residents - and she came by it naturally. Mama arrived at Pasado’s Safe Haven after she had borne a litter of feral kittens. A sweet woman found Mama and her babies and saved them from a life in the wild. It’s hard to feed a family and survive outdoors, but Mama had made sure that her little family made it past those first critical weeks. Kitty City was a welcome reprieve from the streets, and Mama settled in happily. As her kittens were adopted out, she was proud of how far they had come. Loving Mama remained here, where she found her true calling: befriending and mothering the residents who came and went under her watchful gaze.
While it is our goal here at Pasado’s to
rehome as many of our rescues as possible,
we also know that it is our responsibility
to provide them with the best care and
quality of life. During her brief but brave
battle with cancer, we never wanted Mama to
wonder if we were there for her. While she
grew weaker, the strength of our love was
never in question. We hope that this
provided her with the comfort that it
provided for us. Rescuing an animal means
loving them and committing to their lifelong
care. It’s a small price to pay for so much
love and gratitude, and Mama’s memory will
live on with the future lives that we will
save.
Please consider making a donation in Mama’s
memory. Providing long-term care for our
rescues is our commitment, but it can be
expensive. Your donation can help provide our
rescues with the care and medical treatment
that they deserve, ensuring that other
sweet, sassy gals like Mama are given their
second chance at life and love.

(don't forget
to ask your employer to match your donation)
Thank you – from all of
the sweet and sassy seniors here at Misty’s
Kitty City. Your donation is mewsic to our
ears!
