Winnie the
Guinea Hen
Winnie is a fancy little fowl who had been living at Pasado’s sanctuary with her sister. Guinea hens are social birds, and after Winnie’s sister passed away, she became terribly lonely. In the wild, Guinea Hens live in small social groups. Unfortunately, Winnie is a party of one here at Pasado’s: we don’t have any other Guinea Hens. As you can imagine, Winnie has been beside herself looking for a social companion to replace her sister. She pesters the other poultry, but our other bird residents have already worked out their “pecking order.” Her assertive personality hasn’t worked with the other fowl families, and Winnie wants the companionship of other Guinea Hens.
Guinea fowl like Winnie are remarkable birds. They are in the same family as pheasants and turkeys and they nest on the ground, eating seeds and insects. They also have a striking appearance. From her smoky eyes to her downy grey neck to her prominent polka-dots, Winnie is one beautiful bird. Guinea Hens are excellent runners and like to play the role of farm “watch dog.” They’ll sound an alarm whenever they encounter something out of the ordinary, keeping the rest of their “flock,” fowl or otherwise, safe and sound.
Winnie’s wish is to find a home with other goofy Guineas like her. She yearns to find a flock with other birds who she belongs with. Do you share your life with Guinea Hens, and would you be able to provide a home for winsome little Winnie? If so,
please email our Administrator to start the adoption process.
We often provide permanent homes for the companion animals who we rescue. But when we see that they require the socialization of their own species, we recognize that they haven’t found their forever homes just yet. Fowl like Winnie would often be overlooked by others for rescue, but we see the value in these happy little hens. It’s our mission to save those who would otherwise fall through the cracks. Rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming companion animals is our calling – even if the rehoming occurs outside of our sanctuary’s gates.
Providing rescue assistance and care for companion animals can be costly, but we are repaid tenfold every day with happy clucks, barks, moos, and mews. If you aren’t able to offer a forever home for Winnie, please consider making a donation today. With your help, we can continue to provide life-saving support services for all companion animals, finding the perfect forever family for all of our rescues.
Thank you, from all of the animals here at Pasado’s.

(don't forget
to ask your employer to match your donation)
