Halloween is a fun time of year for people, but not necessarily for our pets. This is especially true for black cats, who are often singled out for “tricks” instead of “treats…”
While it’s less common these days for black cats to be associated with “bad luck,” they’re still vulnerable during Halloween. Make sure your pets are safe and sound indoors before nightfall, and remember that trick-or-treaters can frighten your pets. Regardless of their color, any cat can be the victim of a Halloween prank, but it’s important to be especially vigilant with our black cats. They’re usually the last to be adopted from shelters – and the first to be euthanized. But we know that these small, dark, and handsome sweethearts have so much to offer. So in honor of Halloween, Pasado’s Safe Haven is celebrating all of our beautiful black cats. And it would be a special holiday “treat” if they found forever homes!
Arches (image right) is one of Pasado’s feral kitties, and he’s our official Halloween “spokespurrson.” With his
vampire-like teeth, sleek coat, and mysterious demeanor, he’s happy to introduce you to the sanctuary’s coal-colored cats.

Hershey
(image above left) is a 1-year-old boy who’s as sweet as his name sounds. He’s still a shy guy, but we know that with some TLC, this handsome boy’s heart will melt for his special someone.
Shazam (image above right) is one charismatic cat: he won’t let you pass him by without a head-bonk or a rub! Shazam’s serene
yellow-green eyes are always “smiling,” and he would love to be someone’s lap cat.
Bart (image above left) is about four years old and he’s very playful. He’s semi-feral, but he’s learning what it means to be loved – and he can’t wait to reciprocate.
Jackson (image above right) is a friendly, semi-feral boy with mellow yellow eyes and a notched ear. He’s sleek, shiny, and sweet. Finding his forever family would be his favorite treat.
Little Lisa (image above left) is a gorgeous gal with a hopeful heart. She’s a
4-year-old lovable girl who was rescued from a construction site. She hopes to build her future with a loving and patient family.
Shay (image above right) was left behind when her family moved. Sadly, she had to fend for herself in a filthy apartment, but this courageous cat only looks forward. She’s spirited, sassy, and looking for a truly permanent home.

Dear Magoo (image above left) was rescued from a neglectful situation. Understandably, he’s still shy, but he’s discovered the warmth, friendship, and love that humans can offer. He’s a healthy boy who’s happy to live with other cats or strike out on his own.
Minnie (image above right) is a little bit precocious, a little bit naughty, and full of fun. She’s about four years old and has lived most of her life at the sanctuary. Minnie does have the feline leukemia virus, but she has many happy and healthy days ahead of her. This special gal has so much to give.

Little Maya (image above left) is a gorgeous
medium-hair gal who only weighs about 5
pounds! But this 6-year-old black beauty makes
up for her small size with soft purrs and a
quiet playful nature.
Homer (image above right) is most definitely short, dark, and very, very handsome! This mellow fellow has
FIV, but he’s healthy and would love to share a home with other FIV cats. Homer is low-maintenance, adorable,
and loving – what more could you ask for?
These black beauties are sweet, happy, and hopeful for their own special treat: finding a forever home. Does your heart and home have room for one of our coal-colored cats? If so, please
click here to start the adoption process. And if you’re not ready to add to the family at this time, please consider making a donation. Black cats are the first to be euthanized at shelters, but with your help, we can continue to make sure that they won’t fall through the cracks. Thank you, from all of the kitties here at Misty’s Kitty City, and have a safe and happy Halloween!

to ask your employer to match your donation)
