A Cut Above

Running a successful animal rescue requires efforts on many fronts. Pasado’s Safe Haven is involved in legislation, disaster relief, rescuing those who are most at-risk, and organizing “aggressive” spay and neuter efforts. To date, the number of spay/neuter surgeries for cats and dogs is in the tens of thousands. We strive to continue to be “a cut above” while we work on pet overpopulation at its source.

The Spay Station continues to make a difference in pets’ lives by providing low-cost or free spay/neuter services. In Washington State alone, more than 60,000 pets are euthanized each year. By providing spay and neuter services, Pasado’s hopes to cut back that number, one life at a time. Recently, The Spay Station visited the city of Ferndale.

Wally, an 8-month-old Chihuahua (image above left), came to the Spay Station with his Mom. Wally’s parents had heard about the Spay Station from another happy patient, Libowsky the Pit Bull and his parents.

Batgirl, a pretty 2-year-old tabby (image above right), awaits her turn in the Spay Station. Her mother heard about the Spay Station while working at Walgreen’s. A good word sure gets around!

Percy (image above left), a 10-month-old Toy Poodle, waited with his Mom, who saw a flyer for the Spay Station at the Ferndale Farmer’s Co-Op.

Ralph, a Chihuahua-Dachsund mix, affectionately called a “Chiweenie” (image above right), was ready for his turn next. His parents heard about the Spay Station on Craigslist.

Tucker (images below), a young Jack Russell terrier, made it onto the Spay Station just in the nick of time! Tucker entertained fellow Spay Station participants with his skillful dancing and lively antics.

After the surgeries were performed, the patients were returned to their excited families. Post-surgery instructions were provided and many of the patients were already spunky and ready to go!

The Spay Station personnel ensured that pets and people alike felt comfortable. Fixing your pet is the most important step in resolving pet overpopulation.

Would you like to help Pasado’s continue to provide valuable services that are “a cut above?” The Spay Station is an expensive program to operate – but it’s well worth it. Spaying and neutering saves thousands of lives, and we couldn’t be prouder of our results. Donate today and help us stop unwanted litters from being born. It’s some of the most important work that we do – and it’s only possible because of you.
