Pasado’s Safe Haven’s home base of Washington State has recently experienced a week of record-high temperatures. The 103 degree heat is sweltering – but imagine enduring it with feathers or a thick coat of hair or fur!
So how do Pasado’s hot horses, flushed fowl, and porky pigs beat the heat?
With cool showers and a treat of their
favorite fresh fruit: strawberries for
Louise the pig, melons for our cows, and
grapes for our grateful goats and plucky
hens.
Our animals enjoyed their cold spray-down reprieve!
Pig Newton (image above
left) relishes his refreshing spray-down as he dips his hooves in a cool-down pool. His smile was priceless – and it warmed
our hearts as we helped him cool down. Also
Pasado's Pig Princess Louise (image above

bright red strawberries.
Our newly-discovered resident rock star, Chester
(images above),
was lovin’ the feel of the fan in his long,
flowing mane. He just couldn’t get enough of
it!
Goose E. Goose
(image above left)
couldn’t believe his luck – an
ice-cold bath! He dove right in and honked with
glee, while Clyde the goat
(image above right)
dined on delicious, cold grapes, an invigorating
summer delight!
Goldie (image above left) and Mick (image above
right) took their cool baths in stride, sighing
with contentment.
Our hens (image above left) loved the fresh
fruit, while all our cows (image above
right) crowded around
Heather, our Farm Animal Caretaker for some mouth-watering melon.
