When was the last time you cuddled a chicken or
a senior dog? How
about feeding watermelon to a turkey or
caressing a cat and a cow on the same day? Not lately?
Well a Pasado Tour will help you change that!
Pasado's Safe Haven's 2009 Summer Tour had a great turnout! On this
beautiful July summer day, people came from all over and got to experience the joy
that our rescued animals have to offer. Our animals
were once scared,
neglected, abused, and alone, but now they are at peace on
this beautiful, 85-acre wooded sanctuary.
Kiss a cow! A tour guest gave Blue the Cow a
kiss
on the nose (image right). Blue was rescued
from a neglectful situation where he was pulled
from his mother too soon. He suffered from
malnutrition,
fever, pneumonia, parasites, and scours.
Pasado's provides 24-hour rescue of dogs, cats,
and farm animals. Our many
cruelty investigations and
our passion for
animals rights have helped pass a record number
of animal cruelty laws. We've also launched the
first “big rig” mobile pet sterilization clinics
Spay Stations I & II, and started
A.A.R.F.F., The American Association for
Retired Felines and Fidos, saving
middle to senior-aged dogs and cats from shelter
euthanasia.
Goldie and a tour guest share a special
look (image above left). Goldie is a rescue
who developed a sway back due to overuse. Mick smiles for
the camera with a sweet couple (image above
right). Mick is also a rescued sway back horse
who was
once a beautiful show horse.
Read Mick's story here.
Babs the donkey (image above left) and Chester
the pony (image above right) are happy to accept
a handout.
Babs was rescued from daily abuse. Her owners
had used her to hone their “roping” skills using ATVs.
When Pasado’s met her, she was so frightened of humans
that
she wouldn’t come near us. Chester was also a victim
of severe abuse. He was beaten regularly,
resulting in a broken jaw and detached retinas.
He is now nearly blind.
Please consider
sponsoring Babs or Chester,
or both! For $25, we send you (or your gift recipient) a beautiful full-color card with your own,
personalized message included! This is NOT an “e-card” – it’s the real deal.
Tipping the scales at 500 pounds, Pasado's
Pig Princess Louise isn't a bit camera shy
(image above left). Louise jumped out of a moving
truck that was headed to the slaughter house -
smart girl!
Read her rescue story
here. Sharing a mud hole with
Blossom (image
above right), this tour guest shows us the real
meaning of "sleeping with the pigs!"

Guests stop to see the chickens (image above left) and turkeys (image
above right). Did you know that chickens
show complex social organization, have learning capabilities, and
have a diverse communication system with many
different vocalizations? It is in educating the
public that we get one step closer to realizing
that every life is important.
It is popular belief that turkeys are
unintelligent, that they are awkward or too
"dumb" to realize that they can't fly, or
they drown
themselves when it rains. Many of these traits
are due to breeding modern turkeys as a food
source. Turkeys are bred to be much heavier than
their wild relatives. Domesticated turkeys are
also often bred to have white feathers because they
are less visible when the carcass is dressed.

Apricots happen to be Meenie the goat's
favorite treat (image above left). Meenie is the
oldest of our goat residents and the last
survivor of her family who came to Pasado's
over 8 years ago. Bufford and Clyde pass up
carrots and head for anyone with sweet bananas,
apples or apricots (image above right).
Blue munches down a carrot (image above left).
Daisy the cow happily accepts an apple (image
above right) Daisy was a rescue from a beef
farmer who, after taking her best calves for 13
years, left her in a field to die. Please
consider
sponsoring Daisy. Your Gift sponsorship
will help us continue her daily care and also
help us save the next "spent breeder."
As you can see, Pasado’s Tours are not only
fun, they're informative, as well! We sure hope to see you at
our upcoming Fall Tour.
