UPDATE:
August 4, 2009
Daisy has just recently been adopted by her
foster family. Here is a note from her new "mom"
"Daisy had a VERY close adoption opportunity that fell through.
But it made our family realize how much we adore her and we couldn’t imagine a better dog to fit in with our crazy group. Any dog that can get along with our Chihuahua, Chloe, should be part of our family…Daisy is doing GREAT and really has bonded with EVERY member of our family. We love watching her play tug-of-war with a toy while the 10-pound Chihuahua tries to wrestle it away. Daisy is SO gentle even though she out- weighs
Chloe by 60 pounds! At night, Daisy lays by my side of the bed and usually licks my arm before she falls asleep and I always get kisses in the morning! I have a VERY special bond with her and she follows me around the house and is currently laying at my feet…snoring slightly"

UPDATE:
July 27, 2009
Epilepsy:
Darling Daisy suffered from 4
seizures from the time we picked her up from the
shelter to the time we took her to see a
specialist. These seizures would leave her
extremely lethargic for hours after each
occurrence.
After being diagnosed with Epilepsy, Daisy was
prescribed an anticonvulsant
drug called Phenobasbetal, commonly used to
treat seizures. Since being on this medication, Daisy has
not suffered another seizure.
One of the side effects of this medication is
mild weakness of the hind limbs. This could
explain why Daisy's back legs
would fail on occasion when she walked.
Mild tear in ACL: Daisy does, in fact, suffer from a mild tear
in her ACL, though the vet said it was mild
enough that no surgery will be needed at
this time. A lump was also found on her right hock which is the tarsal
joint of the hind leg. This growth was an
accumulation of calcified material typical
for large breed dogs, and is benign.
Daisy is doing well in her foster home and
is such a sweet, darling girl. Special
thanks to Vicki G., Daisy's foster mom, and
a great long-term Pasado's volunteer, for
helping Daisy on this difficult, but
successful journey!

Pasado's Safe Haven
goes ABOVE and BEYOND
for a beautiful 6-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog mix named "Darling" Daisy.
We knew that something was wrong with Daisy,
but we weren't sure just how bad it was.
When we rescue animals, we take the "good"
with the "bad," and we realize that animals
are a complete package, flaws and all.
When we found out that Daisy was suffering from seizures, we knew that we had to act - and fast.
An MRI was scheduled to assess and diagnose her issues.
There are very few agencies out there that would be able to help Daisy in this way. But we do the
most that we can for each and every animal that we rescue - because we believe that
ALL animals
deserve a second chance.
Could you imagine being seriously ill but being unable to tell anyone? Who knows how long
Daisy has been suffering in silence. "Daisy, Pasado's hears your plea for help, loud and
clear!"
We are always willing to go "Above and Beyond" because every animal deserves to live a happy, healthy life!
Daisy doesn't understand that she needs an expensive medical test - but we're sure that she realizes that
she needs our help. We earned our four-star charity rating by making animals the priority, as they should be.
Keep Daisy in your thoughts and cross your paws that she pulls through! Please check back for updates on
our Darling Daisy's journey.
