Dewey and Griffin wear beautiful smiles that hide their painful past. After ten years of faithful friendship,
these two no longer fit into their owner’s plans. They were left at a local shelter, where they slept on cold
floors and cowered from the sound of frightened, barking dogs.
The sad truth is that the recession impacts us all: individuals, animal rescues, and our beloved animals. Our pets
are the silent casualties of economic downturn. Throughout the United States, they are losing their homes, their hope,
and often, their lives, as people increasingly relinquish them to shelters. For large, older dogs with grey muzzles,
wise old eyes and a touch of arthritis, it’s usually a death sentence. They’re deemed “unadoptable” and face euthanasia.
While this dynamic duo has found comfort in each other, can you imagine their despair at being abandoned? Or how they
wondered what they had done to deserve going to “doggy jail?” But Dewey and Griffin escaped this tragic fate.
Fortunately for these two friendly fellas, Pasado’s Safe Haven came to the rescue. We remember the value of unconditional
love and support, especially during hard times. Dewey and Griffin now live here with the other saved seniors at
A.A.R.F.F.,
The American Association of Retired Fidos and Felines. We give them the best care that we can, but they still long to be
part of a family again.

Dewey is a talkative shepherd mix with a slight build and a beautiful grey coat. He’s friendly, attentive,
and intelligent, and his sweet amber eyes are filled with hope.
His buddy, Griffin, is a purebred shepherd, with a larger build and a tan coat. He looks like Rin Tin Tin,
but his heroism is in a shared dream: to be adopted with his best friend, Dewey. He hopes to love – and be loved – once again.
These easygoing, friendly guys would love to find a new home together. They’re house-trained, attentive, loyal, and good
at giving love. If you have a place in your heart and home for these two brave boys, please

And if you aren’t ready to add to the family at
this time, please remember the sweet souls that
might not be saved without your help. Your
support can save a life. Make a difference
in an animal's life today!
