Every day, people get away
with neglecting their animals. We need your support to help Pasado’s
Safe Haven continue the fight against animal cruelty and make sure
“JUSTICE is served for ALL”
Penny, the donkey in this case was reported to local authorities in April
of 2006, as a result of the owner’s negligence Penny was treated for internal parasites, overgrown hooves, and
malnutrition. No charges were filed at that time.
August 20th 2008 Pasado’s was contacted
regarding Penny’s continued neglect. This is
when the investigation began. A neglect case was opened and authorities were contacted.
Photos were sent to
the authorities with attached statements from reputable veterinarians and farriers agreeing
that these animals feet were neglected, causing suffering and unjustifiable pain.

Pierce County Animal Control required the owner to provide
immediate care for the animal. The Owner complied. No charges were filed.
Pasado's submitted a complete case report to the Pierce County Prosecuting
Attorney requesting Penny’s owner be charged with Second Degree Animal cruelty.
The case was accepted by the prosecutor and sent to the court for review.
It was accepted and on 3-4-09 Penny’s owner was charged with Animal Cruelty in the second degree.
To ensure that this case gets prosecuted, we need your voice to be heard for Penny.
The owner in this case was given the opportunity and the skills to be a
responsible pet owner and did not follow through resulting in
a direct Violation
of RCW 16.52.207 “Animal Cruelty in the Second Degree”
Definition under the “Revised Code of Washington State”
RCW 16.52.207:
