Sit. Shake. Stay. |
Rex knows how to take direction well; trouble is,
he was directed straight to the euthanasia room at a local shelter.
That’s when kind volunteers alerted Will, Pasado’s Safe Haven’s Dog Towne rescue dude extraordinaire. He was in our rescue van and on the road in minutes.
Rex comes to his name, sits, and shakes, and what does that tell us? He was
once loved by someone. Can you imagine him seeing that Master or Mistress,
who taught him to come and offer a paw to
them, for the last time as they drove off?
Although we can offer sanctuary to an animal like Rex, many who come here continue to look down the long road to Dog Towne at Pasado’s, hoping to see “that face”
or hear “that voice.” They are happy to see us
and our volunteers. But we are not what a faithful companion dreams of.
However, we always do our best.

some lap--lovin'? |
If Rex could speak, he would tell a sad tale of waiting at an area shelter since February, lingering for more than a month in doggy limbo. He was unlikely to be adopted simply because he was older, but Rex still has so much love to give and so many adventures to live!
Pasado's Safe Haven steps in when a loving animal like Rex might miss his chance to be saved and loved. Each year, thousands of healthy older cats and dogs are passed by for younger animals. Rex saw many of his shelter friends take that long walk, eager and hopeful that they were finally going home…but they never came back. At Pasado’s, we help provide the voice that the animals cannot - without a doubt, they would ask for help if they could. And we heard Rex loud and clear! Rex has now been living here with the other senior dogs at
A.A.R.F.F., The American Association of Retired Fidos and Felines, since March.
A.A.R.F.F. was created for this sole purpose - savin' the tails of sweet seniors like Rex so that they could live to wag another day!

Now, about Rex!
Despite being left behind, he is still a
very devoted dog. His deep brown eyes watch
you wherever you go and he always wears his
hopeful smile. He is equal parts lovable lab
and steadfast shepherd, but a loving home is
what will make him whole. Rex gets along
well with other dogs. He lives, eats, and sleeps with other senior canine companions here at Dog Towne.
Rex is an outgoing, friendly guy who would be the ideal family dog. He’s highly compatible and would love to have a canine companion. Rex is adventurous, active,
and ready to go – he doesn’t know he’s nine years old!
Are you ready to take Rex on his dream adventure? If so, please
click here. If you aren't ready to add to your family quite yet, remember that saving sweet old guys like Rex takes time and money. Not all of our middle to senior-aged animals are as healthy as Rex. We often have to help our seniors with treating age-related diseases, and many of our residents have been victims of neglect and abuse. Regardless of their condition, they are all so grateful for your support!
