Meet some of the people who attended
recent
Sanctuary 101 workshops at Pasado's Safe Haven and
began their dream helping
the animals.
Large or small, you too can create a dream
come true for abused and neglected animals. |

Trisha and Richard's New
Sanctuary in Oregon!
"Dear Pasado's Safe Haven...
We were in your 2003 seminar. We bought our place the next year and have
been working on it. We have built this barn. This is Rocket (standing), he
was abandoned and Larry who was surrendered. They have joined two donkeys
and three dogs in our growing rescued family. Our newest member is a 10+
year old Lab mix who was beaten and thrown from a moving truck onto the
highway. As you know, these miracle animals have loads of love to give. We
were so inspired during our weekend with you. Thank you so much for all that
you do!

Kimberly Kent-Rodgman and husband Ray
Lonsdale always loved
animals - but that wasn't enough. After taking several years to finally
decide what she wanted to do with her life, she took the plunge and
opened the sanctuary of her dreams in Canada.
Kimberly attended Sanctuary 101 just after purchasing the property for
Sherlock's Maple Haven and she's never looked back. |

Left, one of the many
critters who reside at Kimberly's sanctuary. According to Kimberly,
"You truly exceeded my highest expectations! I was very happy with
the experience of Sanctuary 101 and surprised at how much I learned!
Warm, fun, friendly, and inspiring!"

From newly-created
Bliss Animal Haven in Atlanta, Georgia!
"Dear Pasado's!
Jessie & Nancy here from Atlanta - we attended Sanctuary 101 this past
April and would like to let Susan & Mark hear an update ...
We are officially incorporated now as Bliss Animal Haven! We'll be
undertaking the smaller stuff - bank account, logo, biz cards, website,
etc fairly soon. We should get non-profit status within a couple of
months.
Jessie attended a seminar at the Georgia Bar Association called "Animal
Cruelty Cases & the Law" in May. We are in search of grants (and have
found a few!) to help us be able to cover the medical costs associated
with rehabbing these fine animals. Bliss will also have other programs,
but our main focus will likely be the cruelty cases.
So we're still on the steep hill side of the learning curve, for
certain. But it feels like we're headed in the right direction! It is
very rewarding to help save and re-home the animals here locally.
We are both so thankful for our time with you at Pasado's. Truly a
life-changing experience. Thank you for all you are doing for the
animals! We'll be in touch.

Second Chance
Sanctuary
Sterling, Connecticut
Erin Woodward, right, had stressful jobs in the
past, including that of business manager at the famed Sotheby's Auction House in New
York City. But the passion that always drove her was animals - and more specifically,
animal abuse.
|

|
"So, so wonderful and exhilarating
to be with a group and with facilitators who all have similar passions
and emotions towards humane treatment of animals. The "hands on" and real life experiences of you both really
made it a reality for me vs. just a dream.
The focus and planning information and awareness was great - it really
made me feel much more capable of doing what I am about to do!"
Erin Woodward |

|
After attending Sanctuary 101, Erin returned home to
the ten acres she and her husband had purchased and
turned them into a sanctuary of life. She gained a front page cover
story within the first few months of operation! |

From Leslie S. in
California...
"Dear Susan and Mark,
I can't begin to express my gratitude at your generosity. Sanctuary
101 was an amazing experience. I wasn't sure what I would see, but the
event was excellent, and I learned many things I hadn't expected. You
certainly live your message. I love the animals, too, and understand one
must be realistic in expectations. Your unique talents and
accomplishments are a real model; from the creation of new legislation,
promoting the notion and supplying spay and neuter facilities, besides
the animal rescues, secure your as one to be heard in the community.
It was wonderful to have the veterinarians speak with us. That was very
generous of them, and it also demonstrates the cooperation you have
fostered. I enjoyed every minute of the weekend! Best regards, Leslie"

Maryland Animal Rescue
Joan Fetter had had enough working
in the "big city" and yearned for starting a haven for
abandoned and abused animals. She did it. She opened the first animal
rescue sanctuary in Maryland and cares for a variety of animals
including dogs, cats, and farm animals seen below, right.
|

|
"It's wonderful
to meet people with common interests as I did at Sanctuary 101. I live
in a farm community and work in the high-tech environment and most
regard me (do to my love of animals) with grave suspicions to my
sanity!
Thank you for helping be a catalyst to me to take the first step to
reaching my dream."
