Pasado's Story
Pasado Newsletter

When Pasado's Safe Haven learned of a woman, named Geri Elkins, had dragged a dog by a chain for a 1/2 mile behind a van, we wanted justice. But the woman fled. Police issued an arrest warrant but she still couldn't be found. That's when Pasado's Safe Haven issued a reward through the media. Within five minutes following television newscasts announcing the $3000 reward, a tip came in. We forwarded it to sheriff's deputies. And an arrest was made.

A woman who had spotted Gerri Elkins at a bar, won the reward.

Geri Elkins won a year in jail.

It makes no sense to us to simply rescue the animals hurt by perpetrators of animal cruelty. If we don't use the laws we fought so hard for to win convictions, these people will simply repeat their acts of cruelty. We believe Gerri Elkins, and others who we have helped to get prosecuted and convicted, will think twice before harming an animal again.
