The photo of Mohawk, above, doesn't truly do justice to what rescuer Cammie Owen (and the rest of us) witnessed when we met him. You can pretty much guess by the name he was given that all the fur he had in his possession was a flash of scraggly hair down his back. A severe case of mange (and probably years of neglect) left this boy one unlucky-lookin' feller.
Latest submission from a PasadoRescuer!

"Esplanade was rescued by Pasado in early October from a street called Esplanade in New Orleans. She was terrified and extremely shy when I first met her cowering in her cage at Raceland. I held her when she needed fluids and put ice packs next to her to cool her during the hot days.

After I came back, I was one of those to persuade Purrfect Pals volunteers to drive down and bring cats for fostering and adoption here in Washington. I specifically listed several cats that I had worked with in hopes that they would be able come. Esplanade was one of them. She was a difficult one to find a home for as she would hide in her cage and show no one anything but her little black rump. Finally, in January 2006 she was adopted, but it was not a good adoption. I decided at that point to take her into my family.

She has been with me now since early August and she is loving and sweet, purrs and loves treats. She is still shy and hides but not as much as she did. It will be a long journey for her to know that she is with me forever. She is getting to know the other members of my family, most especially 'the bad boys' Patches and his brother B.C. who only want her to play.

I want to thank Pasado for both rescuing this special girl and all of the animals. And, also for allowing me to volunteer and work in Raceland.

Thank you. Kathleen Shaw"

Cammie, left, took Mohawk under her wing and you should just see him now. He sports the thickest, most beautiful, flaxen coat of fluffy black hair. He's such a beauty - and so loved. Thanks to Cammie, a rescuer with a huge heart.

Amber and Indy
Amber C. is an awesome photographer. She took some of the awesome photos you see on this website. She spent time in New Orleans rescuing, as well as documenting the efforts of rescuers. And that's when she met Indy.

When Indy's guardian never appeared after Katrina, Amber couldn't resist.

"I wish everyone at Pasado's, two legged and four (and those with 3) a great year! It is a true pleasure to be an acquaintance of yours and the others in your organization. Give Claudia a big hug from me! I miss talking to her terribly! Tell her that I have more Stormy stories for her! For my Christmas present, my family is sending me back to NOLA for a week. I hope to be able to do some ground work and help reunite some more animals with their families.
Here's me trying to hold Moose- my Pasado's rescue. He's the love of my life! I thank you each day for saving him and sending him to me! Beth M., Tennessee"

From Yvonne..."I was, and still am, honored to be a part of Pasado's work in New Orleans. There are no words to sum up my experience. It is ever- present, the people, the animals, the volunteers who worked 15 hour days in oppressive heat and humidity, taking in the ultimate of sadness, giving unselfishly...
Larry N - I would not have been able to leave Seattle without your contribution. Jennifer - I would not have been able to bring my Louisa home without your beautiful guidance and generous gift. Patty
- the wonderful woman who brought Louisa in off the streets, without you, Louisa may have perished in the mess that was the aftermath.
Maria - you have been an angel in my healing and in saving Louisa's life during her three days in critical care (hugs and kisses to your little Beanie). Secrette - my wonderful connection after the fact.
Roger - what can I say - you were my rock from day one as we hovered over the derma-dogs.

Love to you all. Yvonne"
