Meet Amanda - Our 2001 intern from Canada. She had the attitude we love in an intern - she'd roll up her sleeves
and help out when and where she was needed - and absolutely loved
all animals! |

|
|
Every week Amanda would make the rounds to pick-up donated food for the
animals. Dog & cat food for the AARFF residents - and tons of
produce for the rescue farm animals. They show their appreciation big time
- a true reward for working so hard for them. |

|
|
Amanda spent the Summer of 2001 helping with
cockfighting investigations, animal rescue, and the "fun
stuff", too, like fundraising events. And just hugging animals. |

|
|
Meet Heather, a pre-vet student from Virginia who spend Summer
2002 at the sanctuary. She assisted on-board The Spay Station, our
mobile spay/neuter "big rig" that travels into communities to
offer free and low-cost pet sterilization... |

|
| Heather
assisted when the media came out to shoot stories, or right, a
national television show. She also assisted in rescues, fed and cared for
the animals everyday, and pitched in when and where she was needed... |

|
| In
Heather's own words..."When I arrived at Pasado's I considered myself knowledgeable
about the issues surrounding animal cruelty and animal rights. However, in just a couple days I realized that one cannot fully
understand the dire need for animal cruelty reform until he or she has spent time with animals rescued from neglect and abuse.
I spent five days a week for 15 weeks at Pasado's tending to the many animals that were finally able to live a life of
peace after undergoing horrific trauma at the hands of human beings. I learned the story behind each beak, snout, and
muzzle and realized that such stories were much more common than I had ever imagined. I returned to Virginia at the
end of the summer with a much more mature knowledge of the abominable position currently held by animals in this
country. My summer at Pasado's quite literally changed my life. I am so thankful to have been given such an
incredible opportunity." |
| Meet Sarah
& Elizabeth, university students from Ohio who spent the 2003
summer at Pasado's. They taught us what a great opportunity interning is
when two friends do it together. These two did so many things to help the
animals, who couldn't list them all! |

|
| It was the
first time Sarah & Elizabeth ever got to know a turkey, like Roger,
right. Who comes when he's called, just like a dog. Who'll
"talk" to you as long as you sit with him. They intimately got
to know ducks, cows, chickens, pigs, donkeys, goats, sheep, llamas, and of
course, many dogs & cats - and fell in love with them all. |

|
| They went out
on rescues with our crew and brought home animals who needed emergency
help, like Annie, right, who walked a pasture blind and couldn't find her
mother to milk. Sarah and Elizabeth brought life to animals who once had
no hope - could they ever do anything more important in their lives? |
