SPAW day for senior dogs! |
|
Knowing how beneficial swim therapy and massage would be for many of our senior AARFF dogs, Pasado’s tireless Amber E. recently sent out a slew of cold-call e-mails, hoping to find a doggie spa willing to donate some sessions.
Amber and Pasado’s farm animal manager, Jenny, are always looking for ways to make our seniors more comfortable
- and their efforts were rewarded. Almost immediately Amber got a response from Rebeca, the owner of Cottage Spaw offering free swim therapy and massage for our lucky pooches. |
 |
The day started with a
special "ride in the car!" - and you know, every dog loves that!
The gang got to travel in style thanks to a donated ride from Doggone Taxi.
Then they put on their
bikinis and headed indoors to the heated pool... |

Rebeca is a licensed massage therapist (LMP as well as a small animal massage therapist (SAMT), and a graduate of the Northwest School of Animal Massage. She found out about canine swim therapy when she discovered that her newly adopted dog had
partial ACL tears in both legs. He was limping badly and he was in pain, so Rebeca started researching alternatives to surgery. Swim therapy worked miracles, and her dog is not only free of pain now, but he also runs and jumps with the best of them. That’s when Rebeca decided to learn this
wonderful healing therapy and open her own spa. |

Cottage Spaw is a gorgeous, state-of-the-art facility, with a pool that is filtered with ozone and mineral filters, making it 100% chemical free. The pool is crystal clean with water that is heated through solar collectors, with a backup gas
heater for cooler days.
Left, Old Roy is gently
handles as he does the dog paddle. These guys are treated with so much
gentle love during the process of their therapy. It's amazing to watch
them. |

out and slept all the way home, and for about the next three days!

A big "Thank You!" to Cottage Spaw for making these old guys and gals feel so much better!
