Moe, recently diagnosed
with cancer, spends her remaining days snuggling with her sister, Meenie...their
love is truly genuine. |
Eenie, Meenie and Moe
by Jenny M, Farm Animal Manager
Almost two years ago, as a
volunteer, I was walking down to the NARN barn to visit the animals. I
was still new to Pasado’s Safe Haven and wasn’t completely familiar with
all of them yet. I noticed a little goat approach me with a rather
inquisitive look on her face. At first I wondered what she wanted but
as she started to butt my hand gently, I realized that she was just
looking for some affection. I was surprised but quite charmed. I had
not realized that goats could be so sweet! I later learned that this
little charmer's name was Moe. It was only a matter of seconds that I
realized Moe had followers, Eenie and Meenie. They were obviously the
best of friends.

I learned later that Eenie,
Meenie and Moe were sisters who have fortunately spent most of their
life at Pasado’s beautiful sanctuary getting lots of love, daily from
the staff, volunteers and visitors. (You can meet our animals like
Meenie and Moe at our sanctuary tour on April 12th! Click
here for more details!) |

Moe with visitor, Sarah
D. |
They came to Pasado’s
almost 10 years ago, when their elderly owners could not afford to feed
them anymore. They asked Pasado’s for help and we gladly agreed to take
them in and give them the best of care. Unfortunately, Eenie retired
from earth in the winter of 2006 from ovarian cancer. We cannot control
the ‘cycle of life’, but we can insure that the animals have a
wonderful, happy and healthy life while here at Pasado’s Safe Haven.

Sadly, Moe was just
recently diagnosed with Neoplasia cancer. At this time she is still her
spunky, sweet self. She still butts my hand gently looking for
attention. |

Meenie, eats Moe's
medical charts! |
The two of
them are definitely soul mates and Meenie is being very supportive of
her; keeping Moe by her side at all times. Meenie has even tried to
help Moe by stealing her medical charts and then proceeded to eat them.
These two sisters are definitely in cahoots!

Seriously
though, it is a blessing to work here and to have the privilege of
seeing the love and innocence the animals have for each other. I am
thankful for the time I have shared with all of the animals that have
gone and for the time that I get now to soak in their love like the rays
of sunshine. These three ladies will always have a spot in my heart.
Some of
our animals are here for life, like Eenie, Meenie, and Moe. If you
would like to help us with necessary vet bills like Moe’s please donate
here. |
