Dolce steals a kiss from a Pasado's intern
Where are they now?
An Update on some of our friends
You can't work with these animals and not fall in love with them.  Each one has his/her own personality and decides how much of his/her soul they want to share with you.  We also hear from you, our devoted readers, and how much you love hearing about what has happened to Pasado's rescued animals.  Where did they go?  What's their life like now?  So, get ready to smile as you read about the next chapters in a couple of our old friends new lives.
Dolce, the heart stealer

A late night call to Pasado's from a veterinarian needing help... A puppy with a broken leg.   Why do even veterinarians call Pasado’s Safe Haven for help? Because we offer what few others do: 24-hour rescue of dogs, cats, and farm animals.

Watch out!  She'll steal your heart, too!
It turned out to be a sweet little puppy with a seriously injured left front leg. One look at her could melt anyone's heart.  Pasado's staff rushed her to an orthopedic surgeon and after x-rays it was discovered that she had a fracture of the humerus bone.  She needed   surgery, and it would not be an easy one.  After her lengthy surgery that included the insertion of pins, she was put into a shoulder to paw cast.  Her little leg was broken but her feisty spirit was still intact!

Ahhh...life is good!  Dolce enjoys her bedtime story in her new home

Now it was time for the hard part, keeping a young, spunky dog still!  Up stepped one of our wonderful AARFF volunteers Katrin who took Dolce home to see her through the recovery period.  And what do you think happened next?!!  As they story often goes, Dolce stole their hearts and became a permanent member of the family.  Just look at her now - her nights are filled with love, cuddles and bedtime stories!

Scooter, the hit of the farm

Another call about a dog brought to a Veterinary clinic after being hit by a car led us to Scooter.  Her leg was so badly shattered; the veterinarian couldn’t even attempt to fix it. That’s when she called Pasado’s Safe Haven.  We were on our way in moments.

We took this poor pup to an orthopedic surgeon. It turned out that her leg was too far gone to save. “It’s one of the worst cases I’ve seen," our surgeon told us. Scooter was taken into emergency surgery and after four hours in the operating room, her leg was removed.

Lani and Stella, the dog formally known as Scooter

With a strong will to still live and enjoy her life, she came back to Pasado’s Safe Haven's sanctuary to recover. Here, she soon became the hit of the farm, begging for a pet from every volunteer who arrived.  And sure enough, one of them fell in love.  Lani, who comes out to the farm every week, immediately fell in love and adopted Scooter.  She has a new lovely home and also a new name - Stella!  To this day they still come out to the farm once a week, Lani works and Stella supervises.
