Roy is lost in deep thoughts
Our Beautiful Boy, Roy!

He wandered the streets of Cowlitz County alone, looking for that someone that would give him unconditional love.  He looked into the eyes of each passerby but they just looked away and kept on walking.  It seemed that this stunningly beautiful boy had become invisible to the world.

Roy was saved from the harsh life of living on the streets just over a year ago.  He has lived in A.A.R.F.F. (American Association of Retired Felines and Fidos) at Pasado's Safe Haven's sanctuary ever since.  He still waits and watches there for his special person to come.   It is believed that someone simply abandoned him because of his incontinence issues, which are not a major problems, and easy to deal with.

Relaxing on the beach at Camp Charlie
When Roy arrived at the sanctuary, he came with the name Ol' Roy.  After many people had asked him if he was any relation to the Ol' Roy of the Wal-Mart brand of dog food, he decided to drop the Ol' and now likes to just be referred to as Roy.  That's our Roy.  He likes to keep things simple.
He is also Pasado's most gentle resident.   He can be described as wise, calm, and distinguished.  Even looking at his photos, it is clear that he is absorbed in some deeper thoughts.  He enjoys the company of all of the other dogs.

Roy is a man of leisure, conserving his energy for important outings, such as Camp Charlie- a magical place filled with fields that stretch on into the horizon, a large sandy beach and river access where Pasado's dogs can roam and play.  He also loves just taking a stroll around the Pasado's sanctuary with his favorite volunteer.  On any given day, he can usually be found manning his post, keeping watch over the road leading to Dog Town, waiting for visitors.

Roy waits at the fence for "his person" to come

He doesn't insist on much, and just has two small requests.  First, he insists on being the first to be taken out on walks, a right which he has earned by being the elder statesman.  Who can argue with that?!   Secondly, but insists that he receive a greeting, affection and a chest scratch before eating, even though he really does look forward to eating.  Who can resist a guy that thinks with his heart before his stomach?!
