UPDATE! 2/26/08:  This sweet pup has arrived safely and has been reunited with her family in Ohio.  Her owner, Braden S., drove 14 hours through a winter storm to pick her up at the airport.  She has not left his youngest son's (3 yrs. old) side since arriving home.  They were shocked and upset to see how thin she was and are already started to nurse her back to health.

Debbie D, Senior Animal Control Officer with the dog who was dumped at a grocery store this week

Thank you so much to Edmond's Animal Control, and especially Debbie D, Senior Animal Control Officer and to our dedicated and caring Pasado's volunteers, Erica and Chris who were there to comfort her and help get her on her flight!

Tied to a pole and left for good, this sweet girl waits for her owner to return

Dumped Dog
Microchip leads to past owner

Who could dump this sweet dog?

She waited patiently while the busy shoppers came and went.  She searched each one's face looking for familiar features, a scent or a sound, but there was nothing.  Did she know that her owner had tied her up outside the grocery store and was never coming back?

Little did this pup know that she was about to meet an amazing friend to animals, Debbie D., Senior Edmonds Animal Control Officer, who would play a vital role in the twist and turns that her life was about to take.

So often when animals are scanned for microchips, the scan produces nothing.  Or if there is a micro chip, the owners have not updated the information so the scan only leads to an old address or disconnected phone.  But this time something really out of the ordinary happened when Debbie scanned this sweet girl.  Her information had not been updated and contained the information from previous owners that live in Ohio. Unable to care for her, they in good faith had given her to a couple, trusting that they would take good care of her.  Somewhere after that is when she had met the person who left her all alone to fend for herself.
After receiving the call that the pup had been abandoned and in such a heartless way, the previous owners realized that they had made a horrible mistake by giving her up and that they could indeed welcome her back, and wanted so very much for her to be a part of their family again - but for forever this time.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Can you help us make this happen by sponsoring this pup's flight?
(We originally were asking for air miles and have found that airlines will not accept them to fly an animal.)
Please contact us here.
Pasado's along with Edmonds Animal Control, after very careful consideration, really feel that this girl should be returned to her original family.  We are looking for assistance to fly her to Ohio to be with her family who so desperately wants her back.

Unexpected things can happen so fast so please take the time to ensure that your pet will be safe by micro chipping and keeping the information current.

This story also heeds a very important message.  It is clear how important it is to micro chip your pet and to make sure the information is current.  Although things worked favorably for this pup this time, micro chipping is truly is the easiest way to make sure that your animal is returned to you if they are lost.
