First
there was one, then two, then three, then none.
Where did
they come from, and better yet, where did they go?
|
|
The first
one arrived 8 years ago as a baby. She was found laying in feces and
mud. Older, larger animals were stepping on her, and she would not have
survived much longer. Luckily for her, a compassionate person lifted her
out of that horror and brought her to Pasado's. The power of the action
of one person.
|
|
The second
was brought home as baby. He was adored while he was little and
cute and then unfortunately he grew up and wasn't wanted anymore.
Pasado's received the call that the novelty had worn off and he was no
longer loved.
The third
was left out in a pasture with others, they were given no care and by
the time Pasado's received the call, she was the only one still alive.
Three different stories, but all examples of abuse and neglect.
|

Lambchop, just one
month old. FYI- Lambs begin to be slaughtered for food at just 6
weeks of age |
The first
story is Lambchop's and her rescue from a petting zoo.
The second
is Brownie's and his rescue from people who wanted a cute baby, never
considering that they grow up and require veterinary care.
The third
is Cotton's and her rescue from severe neglect. Her and the others were
never sheared, and they got so heavy that they fell over and were unable to
get up. They died where they lay. Cotton is the only one who was able to
right herself and forage for what little food grew.
Three sad
beginnings that have happy endings. Each one was saved because ONE
person spoke up. One person in each situation felt these
conditions were intolerable and asked Pasado's for help. The power of one then grew in
strength to the power of a team... |

Cotton, seen here
suffering from severe neglect, was never sheared |
All three
have blossomed during their time here at Pasado's Safe Haven. Three
little sheep who were destined for lives of pain, neglect and death, met
here, bonded and quickly became the Three Amigos!
Lambchop grew up in Kitty City
being bottle fed. She was surrounded by dogs, cats and humans that loved
her. Eventually it was time for her to join the animals in the barn and
she fit right in, running and frolicking all day long. Now, some may say
she is not as cute as when she was a lamb, but we don't think you can
beat her freckles and sweet disposition. Cotton who would not let a
human within 10 feet of her, now eats out of our hands!
|
|
The Three
Amigo's then needed a forever home. Would there be another number
involved to bring a happy ending to this equation?

Pasado's animals are all up for adoption unless there is a serious medical
problem that requires intensive care. This allows us to rescue more
animals in need. Normally when we receive a call that someone is
interested in adopting one of our animals we are thrilled. When the call
came in that a couple was interested in adopting one or two of our sheep,
we were worried. Lambchop, Brownie and Cotton are so bonded, that we did
not relish the thought of separating them. As we were fretting we found
out that the couple had room in their hearts and home and wanted all three!! Needless to say
we were overjoyed! After reviewing the adoption application, meeting the
prospective new parents and doing a home check, we knew this was a great
place for them to go.
And then there were two, Linda and Ron, to
complete what had started with one. |
|
Linda and Ron, proud
parents of the Three Amigos! |

...and a new horse
sister! |
|
So, early one morning Jenny
M, Pasado's Farm Animal Manager, loaded the three up and
brought them to their new home and new parents. The Three
Amigos checked out their new stall then went exploring the pasture. They
marveled at all the green pasture they had to roam, and checked out
their new horse sister. There would be no more suffering here. They gave a big hooves up and went on their way.
When you
feel overwhelmed and helpless about all there that can be done to help
animals, think of the Three Amigos who are now frolicking in their new
pasture. They are safe and happy together. No one person
made this happen for them. It was a group effort with each
person's small role added together to equal a BIG difference for three
lives. |

Lambchop offers this
very quick & easy tip to help animals: If you see me on a menu, please give your
polite comments to the restaurant and ask them to remove me from their
selection! |
