Remembering Roy

Roy and Angel.
|
|
Pasado's lost a wonderful friend this past Christmas Eve. Roy came
to Dog Towne over two years ago and quickly became a favorite with
volunteers and staff. Spending time with this humble, gentle boy
could make you forget all your worries and cares. He was an old soul
with a quiet wisdom and grace that put you at ease instantly. We hoped
he would find his forever home, but now realize that he was sent to Dog
Towne for a purpose. His beautiful presence undoubtedly created a
sense of peace and harmony making it possible for new arrivals to make a
successful transition to their new life at Pasado's.
|
|
Roy
lived with Will C., Pasado's resident dog caretaker, during the last few
months of his life. Will sent the following message to Roy's
friends on Christmas day. |
|
Dear Friends,
It is with great sadness
that I must inform you that our friend Roy passed away Christmas Eve
night. As the snow gently fell outside, he spent his last day warm in
his bed with candles flickering and soft Christmas music playing.
|
 |
|
Blessed with an extraordinary amount of courage, Roy fought on with a
determined spirit, long after his body began to tire. He will forever be
remembered as the gentlest of dogs, who found his home here in Dog
Towne.
Having him in my home throughout the fall and winter gave me an
opportunity to know and love him even more than I thought possible. Roy
now runs free with his spirit unbridled, which will forever watch over
all who loved him and who he quietly loved in return. |
 |
|
I would like to
personally thank everyone who took the time to enrich Roy’s life. I
would be extremely grateful to those who would like to send their
thoughts, memories and stories to be added to a memorial tribute. Thank
you once again.
Most sincerely,
Will Campbell

Some
remembrances from Roy's many friends;
 |
~~ Roy, you were and
are a sweet gentle man. I will always cherish our long slow walks. You
are and will always be loved. Rest our gentle kind man. I love you.
~Jacinda K.
~~ Will, thank you for giving Roy a warm home for his last days. I am
thankful that he did not pass alone. I know you loved him so much, like
so many other people; what was there not to love about him? The thing I
remember most about him were his beautiful black loving eyes. He always
had the expression of sadness on his face, but I think it was just
his peaceful being. I loved watching him sleep so comfortable in his
hole underneath the tree were he lay in the summer. It always reminded
me of being a child hiding out in a fort. We can't be perfect in all
ways; but he was pretty close.
Like all the animals that have to leave us.... he will be missed.

We're sure that Roy's presence is missed by his Dog Towne friends too,
but like us, they are better for having known him. If you're ready
