Hungry, Thirsty, Infested With Parasites….

That was the condition of eight cats Pasado’s Safe Haven found living in squalor just miles from the sanctuary.  A case manager for a man being evicted from his home contacted Pasado’s rescue team shortly after they came upon the horrid scene.  Pasado’s Safe Haven's Humane Investigator, Angel L., assessed the situation and immediately entered into discussions with the owner to sign his animals over to Pasado’s so they could be taken to the sanctuary and receive the medical treatment they needed.

Shadow, above, is one of the eight cats rescued
by Pasado's from a life of neglect.

Angel and Deborah A., Pasado’s Safe Haven's Kitty City Caretaker, came back with live traps and face masks and entered the premises.  The stench was overwhelming, the sites beyond belief.  There was garbage strewn everywhere, feces and urine caked on every surface, but no sign of cat food or water.

These cats lived in dangerously filthy conditions.

Once back at the sanctuary, all of the cats received a medical check-up and were treated for fleas, tick and worms.  Some had to receive fluids to treat dehydration.  Seven cats were unaltered and will be sterilized when they have fully recovered.

Magoo will live to see better days.

Otis is now getting the medical attention he needs.

Unfortunately, this situation is becoming more and more common as people lose their jobs and their homes.  If Pasado’s was not there to receive the call from the case workers, the chances of giving these animals a second chance would be unlikely.  More than ever, Pasado’s is being called upon to step in to help abandoned pets and neglected animals.

Snuggles is still a little scared, but safe and warm.

Help us continue our rescue and spay/neuter program by making a donation today!   And when these kitties are ready for their forever family, please consider opening your heart and home.  Check back for updates!

Thank You!

Baby is looking forward to meeting her forever family!
