What's going on in Pasado's office?!
Hey!   Is that a chicken?

Last week you got to tour our beautiful sanctuary with me while the snow was falling… This week it only seemed appropriate to give you a sneak peek at our offices which we fondly call our People Barn!

To be fortunate enough to work in the People Barn at Pasado’s Safe Haven is a dream come true as we work in an environment that really embraces what Pasado’s stands for.  We get to spend our work time with rescued animals lying at our feet, beside our computers and even in our laps.  All are animals that were neglected, suffering or homeless before Pasado’s stepped in to save them.  Some are recovering from injury and some just overall need a little extra TLC.  Because rescue does work both ways, we also benefit from the love and attention they give us.

Follow me up the stairs and I will introduce you to two of our sweet little coworkers!

Kim helps Beauty walk

Yes, that is a chicken learning to walk!  Her name is Beauty and she has a super sweet personality to go with the name.  She had been a child’s chick hatching project in school and was born with deformed legs and unable to walk.  She loves to be petted and talked to and in return she will tilt her head to the side, look you in the eyes, and talk sweetly to you.  Give her some corn and she will excitedly hop as much as she can and yell “Ba Baaa BAAA BAAAAK!”  (Translated from chicken talk means- "Why thank you kindly!  Those are my favorite!")

Beauty has had one operation on one leg to help her to walk again.  She receives physical therapy daily. This week she had some major progress in her recovery – she took her first steps!  To read more about Beauty, click here.

Our next office friend I will introduce you to is sweet and curious little Mini.  Mini is recovering from a broken leg right now.  She is a darling little girl that loves life and mischief! She makes everyone smile with her petite little mew.  Often you will find her snuggled up in the Pasado’s outgoing mail bin.  If you have ever received a piece of mail from Pasado’s with a little black hair attached, Mini was just sending her love!

We have so much that we can learn from these animals.  Pasado’s rescued animals who grace our office- dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, etc… put their differences aside and all get along.  The sign outside our window says “Sweet creatures who pass this way, once scared and alone.  Welcome to peace, for now you are home.”   The animals know they are in a safe and special place.  It is such an amazing sight to see Beauty scooting along on her wheels while a dog stops to give her a quick kiss and then is on about its way.  They bring us so much love, happiness and often times many, many laughs!

Thank you for taking a quick little tour of our office and meeting a couple of our friends.  I hope that you return to our site for another tour soon.  And again, I want to thank you for supporting us.  By reading Pasado's stories, by looking at our sweet animal's photos and by donating to help the animals YOU ARE INVOLVED and your spirit is here with us.  Because of you, we are able to help so many animals like Beauty and Mini and while doing so also elevate humankind.  We will make this world a more beautiful place, together, one chicken and cat (plus dogs and farm animals!) at a time!
