Daisy Mae Goes Home!

Cat SHOT IN FACE
AND LUNGS

PASADO'S SAFE HAVEN PAYS FOR SURGERY (Owner cannot afford)
PASADO'S
OFFERS $5000 REWARD

As painful as she may have appeared, Daisy Mae was finally going home. After an arduous week that started with a gunshot through her face and jaw, the bulley landing in her lung, only millimeters from her heart, her journey of pain was coming to a close.

Pasado's Safe Haven's volunteers met Daisy Mae following her long surgery and watched as she lay so helplessly in an oxygen unit. She was on pain meds, to be sure, but she was going to heal.

We met met Melinda, left, Daisy Mae's guardian as she visited her precious girl. We gave her one of our PasadoRescue t-shirts, as she's a big fan of ours now. As she told one television reporter, "I can't believe there are people like Pasado's out there. If they were here to help me I would have had to let Daisy Mae be euthanized. I could have never afforded the surgery. They saved my little girl."

Pasado's Safe Haven committed to helping Melinda because she truly cared about her cat. Her last kitty lived to be 20+ years old. However we required Melinda to promise that Daisy Mae would never go outdoors again. "I'm having my husband build a cat run," she told us. "I've learned that bad people share our lives. I thought my neighborhood was so safe."

Above, all of the x-rays of Daisy Mae. She now has a pin holding her jaw together until it heals, then the pin will be removed. Wires hold the smaller bones together. Surgeons left the bullet in the chest cavity stay put for now. They'll re-assess if it should be removed next week. Daisy Mae was too weak to undergo both surgeries at once.

This little girl's surgery, despite discounts from the surgeons afforded to Pasado's, will cost between $3000 and 5000. If you can help, even a little, we'd be so appreciative.

Please donate to Daisy Mae's fund here.

TIPS COMING IN - $5000 REWARD OFFERED
Two individuals from the same neighborhood report similar stories of cats being shots with a .22. One tip involved a cat but the shell casing was recovered and the case wasn't reported to authorities. This is problematic because it doesn't begin defining what may become a pattern of violence. Pasado's Safe Haven is turnign over all information to authorities.

E-mail us here and we'll let you know how to submit your comments to the prosecuting attorney!

Please download a flyer and meet us when we put out the call to post this reward in Daisy Mae's neighborhood this week.

We know someone saw or heard something, and they know a person who fires off a .22. There is a witness, and we need the tip that'll put this coward in jail!

HISTORY OF CASE:
Daisy Mae, a 3 1/2 year old pet came indoors last night, laid down, and began bleeding on the floor. The owner, who cannot afford veterinary care, rushed her beloved cat to an emergency clinic anyway. The cat had been shot with a .22 in the jaw and in the gut. Surgery estimates? $2000+

That's when a kind-hearted veterinary technician called Pasado's Safe Haven.

We offered to pay for Daisy Mae's surgery AND offer a $5000 reward.

SURGERY SCHEDULED ON MONDAY

Right now, veterinarians are working to stabilize Daisy Mae. They cannot perform such an involved surgery until she is ready to endure anesthesia. According to the surgeons, she'll be under observation over the weekend and hopefully first have her jaw repaired. She is not bleeding internally, a good sign. She is on pain medications and is rest comfortably.

Left, .22 shot through neck.

COSTS COVERED
We are asking everyone who can to help us pay the bill for Daisy Mae. The woman who owns Daisy Mae loves her. Her last cat lived to be 21 years old. She simply cannot afford such a big bill. If any one of us were in the same situation, we'd ask for help, too. This little cat doesn't deserve to die.

Please donate here to either the reward fund OR for Daisy's surgery. Pasado's Safe Haven is the only 4-Star animal charity in Washington State. We are in an elite group of only 8% of ALL charities nationwide that are awarded this status for three years in a row. We promise to use your dollars for Daisy Mae wisely!

Print out posters!
Please, help us post our reward far and wide. We need to find who did this to this cat. There is someone out there, shooting a .22 in a neighborhood, at innocent animals. Who will be shot next?

PasadoRewards work. We've received tips over the years that have led to convictions of everyone from a woman who dragged a dog behind a van to teens who shot cattle in a field. Let's catch this potential killer next!

Print posters onto neon colored paper and distribute in the N. 121st St. area of Seattle, Washington. THANK YOU!!!
