Pasado's Story
Pasado Newsletter

Harvey, we believed, was about 13 when we met him. We'll never know how old he really was. We heard about an old dog who didn't have a chance of adoption at a local shelter. And that's how we met him. Before he could be euthanized, he came to Pasado's Safe Haven.

That was about six months ago. Although he could barely hear a thing, and he suffered from long-term dental disease, he was a trooper. No matter how badly those ancient bones must have ached, he still managed to wag his way up to you for a pet.

And one of those times he wagged his way to Tina and Rick Nabseth, two unimaginably kind and compassionate Pasado volunteers, they couldn't resist. They took him home as a foster. They knew he didn't have all that long to live.

Harvey joined the Nasbeth clan, left, and fit right in. But over the few months he spent with his new family, it was apparent he was being called home. His heart was enlarged and he had trouble walking. This week, he started going downhill quickly.

Tina, left, with Katie, another A.A.R.F.F. senior baby she and Rick took home to love, took Harvey to the vet for the last time on Friday. She was in tears when we spoke to her. Barely able to speak.

She and Rick, and especially her teenage son, took Harvey into their home and loved him as their own. He may have spent the best few months of his life with them. And thanks to them, he was able to take his last breath in the arms of someone who loved him. Who caressed him, who spoke to him while his pain eased from his old body.

If you would, please send an e-mail to Tina - and let her know what a heroic thing she did. Not only taking care of Harvey, but helping him go to peace. Please write to her here.

Thank you Tina. Harvey is so grateful to you.
