The Senior Dog
Way-Station...
 |

|
When the old folks come in
to Pasado's Safe Haven's A.A.R.F.F. program, they never seem to be in
great condition. Apart from being arthritic, deaf, blind, incontinent
(the usual) they always come accompanied by matts, fleas, and goopy
eyes. While they're treated in the Aberdeen Vet Clinic at Pasado's
(named for a 21-year-old beloved cat), they need immediate cleaning up.
And that's where the A.A.R.F.F. Med Shed comes in. It's also a great
example of how we "do" things here at Pasado's. We're not one of the
enormous "animal orgs" out there, rolling in the bucks, so we depend on
individuals who come through, to make a miracle like this, become
reality. |

First, it started with
Jonetta C., who donated the kit from Home Depot in honor of her three
fur-babies: Big D, SaraBoo and Spooky-Q. Then, top photo, we asked a
local high school construction class to build the shed at no charge to
Pasado's, in exchange for gaining valuable experience (it was managed by
their instructor and they did a great job). |

Next
came Steve, above, who came out for an entire weekend with his wife,
Michelle right. While he insulated the Medical Shed, she stained the
trim for the exterior. It was a cold, rainy weekend, but they never
complained!
Next,
Dede R., (not pictured) a great supporter of Pasado's, got her company
(InteriorSupply, Inc.) to donate all of the wallboard.
It saved us a bundle. |

And
last came Harald. You can't tell from the photo above, but Harald
(husband of one of our great volunteers) worked in the rain and cold to
get our Med Shed done. He wired the shed for electrical switches and
outlets, and began installing the wallboard. Next comes outfitting the
room with a medical table, surgical light, grooming table, and minor
surgical instruments that we'll need to assist the old girls and boys
when they come in.
We're
never embarrassed to ask for help. We claim the animals can't, so we
must do it for them. Then, if we can't get a donation, we cough up the
money. YOUR money. But it's also a way you are insured, as a donor to
Pasado's Safe Haven, that your dollars are used wisely. We are one of
the few 4-Star rated animal charities in the country, and we're darn
proud of it - thanks to people like those you've just met above!
Please
help us buy the medical items mentioned above
here.
(we can never get them donated)

We are the only 4-Star rated
animal charity in the Pacific Northwest and one of a select few in the
country determined by
Charity Navigator,
the nation's premiere evaluator of charities.
