Eagle is a big "tough guy", who was never socialized. He is very confident and likes to strut the yard and show off for the ladies across the fence.

Eagle is a large, adult, male turkey of indeterminate breed.  We got a call from a Good Samaritan who said that someone had dumped a turkey at their property, as they didn’t have turkeys, he needed a sanctuary.

Eagle is a big “tough guy”, who was never socialized.  He is very confident and likes to strut the yard and show off for the ladies across the fence.  Eagle should go to a home where he gets to be the only male turkey.

Fun Turkey Fact:
In a letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin stated that, “For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly.” (shortened) “For the Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America . . . He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on.”

Eagle has the multi-colored characteristics that make him look like a broad breasted bronze type turkey, but who knows… he would be a great match for somebody with time and interest in training turkeys :O)  He still doesn’t trust people, but we’re at least working on training him that he can’t hurt people so there is no point in trying – the old stand your ground stuff.

He has a lot of potential to be a good boy, but it’s going to take some time and patience. We would recommend Eagle for somebody without children at this point
