Now recruiting for … “PASADO’S SAFE HAVEN’S FERAL CAT TASK FORCE”
WE HAVE A SEVERE PROBLEM IN WASHINGTON STATE …
It is estimated that there are 1.2 million unaltered feral and free-roaming cats in the state of Washington. This is not only an over-population problem, but a sanitation, health, and economic issue. These cats are dying horrible deaths in the wild due to the increased contamination of diseases such as Pan-leukemia (cat Parvo), FeLV (Feline Leukemia), Rabies, and FIV (Feline version of HIV) just to name a few. According to the Animal World Network, one female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in 7 years. This problem will only get worse unless we do something about it.
A coalition has been formed consisting of Pasado’s Safe Haven, Purrfect Pals, MEOW Cat Rescue, and Feral Cat Spay Neuter Project. This Task Force promotes the spay/neuter of feral (untamed outdoor) cats through humane Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR). The Feral Cat Task Force is recruiting volunteers for classroom and field training. As a volunteer, you may be interested in helping with trapping, transportation, overnight care of cats before and after surgery, fostering kittens, public education, or being a caregiver for a managed colony. Your level of involvement is up to you. Anyone is welcome and there is no cost to you. You can help change feral cat statistics and you can help change their lives. Join us in this rewarding and worthwhile adventure.
With your help, the Feral Cat Task Force will save the lives of thousands of cats through prevention. Be a part of the solution. Call or email the organization nearest to you:
