Splash escaped from slaughter and is now safe at the Pasado's sanctuary!

Splash is a striking pink and black pig with exquisite markings!

Pasado’s received a call one day from a woman saying she’d found an 800 lb. pig at her gate so she’d opened the gate and Splash happily entered her yard. The woman searched for the owner and when she found her she understood why Splash had come to her for help.

The woman told her she’d just taken all of Splash’s babies away from her, slaughtered Splash’s brother and sister in front of her and was selling Splash for “Sowing or Slaughter”. Traumatized, Splash broke free and swam across the river desperately searching for someone to help her.

Thankfully, the woman Splash found had a tender heart and contacted Pasado’s. Splash now shares the pastures in peace with her best friends, Nora and Wilbur and will never again feel the kind of fear and sorrow she was forced to endure.

NOTE:  Pigs are very social and enjoy the company of other pigs. They need the companionship of their own species. Pigs require a large area to roam and root as well as large areas for mud baths! We do not suggest them as house or back yard pets.

Splash is a very beautiful girl and I’m so happy she found her rescuers, Tiffany and her family! Now she lives at Pasados and will never feel that terror or sadness again!

Splash was having a splash today! ;O) I gave her a hose shower and made a make shift mud wallow right at her feet… you should have seen her soaking it up. so cute!

This story is not completely true.  She did not watch her brothers and sisters slaughtered, she didn’t have any brothers or sisters on the farm.  She was very happy and loved being a MOM!  She was taught by her Mom to swim the river.  They had done it many times, so it was natural for her, she just never got caught before.

well I am the aunt of the person who took her in, the lady that Pasados had to buy the pig from told my niece that she had slaughtered her babies and her friends with her there as she was getting out of the business and she would be sold at auction for meet or to be a breeder.. We have lived there for 10 years and never had a pig in the pasture before : )
