Can living with a cat warm your heart and save your life? According to a recent study, those who live with cat companions receive not only the unconditional love and the company of their feline friend, but myriad health benefits, as well.
Those who live with cats are less likely to die from heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases than those who do not live with cats. The study examined 4,500 men and women aged 30 -75 who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Study. When the study began in the 1970s, each participant was free of cardiovascular disease. More than half of the participants (55%) reported living with a cat at some point during their lifetimes. In comparison, those who had never lived with a cat were 40% more likely to die from a heart attack over the 20-year study period. Those who did not live with cats were also 30% more likely to die from any cardiovascular disease, including heart failure, chronic heart disease, and stroke.
Sweet little Sophie is a prime candidate for bringing both love and health into a new home. Sophie is a beautiful, eleven-year-old tabby who is searching for her special someone. Sophie is a loving girl whose affection was reciprocated by her human, but unfortunately, he had to return overseas to care for his family. He desperately wanted to take Sophie with him, but when he learned that she would not be allowed to fly next to him and would have to fly in the cargo area, he made the painful decision to return her to Pasado’s.
Several years ago, Sophie’s human met her at Pasado’s in Misty’s Kitty City. He immediately fell in love with this affectionate gal and brought her home. Sophie was pampered for years while living with him and this has been extremely upsetting for both of them. The two shared a very close bond and Sophie is heartsick over their separation.
While Sophie has a broken heart, her love and affection could help keep her new human’s heart healthy! Sophie is the perfect lap kitty and yearns to know that loving bond once again. She is currently living in the People Barn at Pasado’s where everyone can give her extra TLC, but she is really longing for that one special someone. This little sweetheart loves to cuddle up on the lap of Matt, our CEO, while he is working at his desk but she really needs to be in a home where she can cuddle up with her own person and receive the attention she deserves, everyday!
Sophie wants to be the only kitty in the household and she would do very well in a quiet home with a warm lap. All this sweetheart wants is love and kindness. She misses her person and she needs someone to care for her one-on-one again.
