June 15, 2011- Pasado’s has rescued a total of 57 cats and three litters of kittens from a hoarding situation thus far. All of the cats have tested negative for all diseases, but most of the cats have upper respiratory infections that will take several weeks to treat.

Pasado’s Safe Haven’s Spay Station Staff have spayed or neutered 30 of the cats. A few of the kittens are too young to alter and will be altered when old enough. Amazingly, more than half of the cats who we rescued were already spayed and neutered.
Their owner is on a limited income and still used their money to spay and neuter as many cats as possible. This sacrifice at the cost of their ability to purchase groceries or pay bills exhibits just how much this individual loved her cats. Every single one of these cats had been well-fed and most are very loving, demonstrating that they had received loving care from the individual.
Five of the cats are feral and we are looking for homes for them. While they are not suitable for living within a home at this time, they would make excellent barn cats. If you can open your home and heart to these feral felines, please click here to find out how to adopt them.
One of the cats featured in a previous article, Rusty, has a bad scratch on his ear and a bad case of ear mites. Rusty was treated for his ailments and neutered and he’s now on the road to recovery. Pasado’s has microchipped, treated for fleas, ear mites, and dewormed all of the rescued cats.
Caring for this unprecedented number of cats has strained our resources and we want to ensure that each cat receives the best care, including comfort and reassurance. It is Pasado’s Safe Haven’s hope that every one of these rescued cats receives his or her own bed to curl up in. Having a bed of one’s own will help each cat feel a sense of comfort and security during this transition from rescue to rehoming. We are looking for clean and washable donut-style cat beds – do you have one that you could donate?
Pasado’s is committed to being on the front lines of animal rescue, but it can often be cost-prohibitive. Our labor rate alone is approximately $40 a day to feed, administer medication, and care for the cats. Any monetary donation to offset the costs of their care would be much appreciated.
We have food and litter donations coming in currently, but we need to continue to receive these important items as we continue to care for this unprecedented number of rescues. Please purchase gift cards from the following stores to ensure that we can continue to provide everything that they will need.
