1/31/2011 – Another cat was rescued from the home in Granite Falls where 31 animals were found dead.
She has had a bath (the bath water was brown due to the fact that she lived in filth) and she has had a check-up and seems to be in good health. Many thanks to the concerned neighbors and the Granite Falls Police for continuing to check for more animals. Pasado’s has traps set inside the home with food and water in hopes of catching any more frightened animals who may be hiding in the home.
1/24/2011- A mother and son who allegedly starved 31 pets were arrested and booked into jail. When Chief Taylor arrested the Cowlings, he discovered that they already had another three pets in their new apartment. Chief Taylor seized the two cats and the puppy, who are now at Pasado’s sanctuary. Other than severe flea infestations and smelling of urine and feces, the animals appear to be in good condition.

Pasado's gathers the bodies to perform necropsies for determination of cause of death of the 31 animals
Unspeakable suffering

The city of Granite Falls has experienced drastic budget cuts and no longer has an Animal Control department, so when horrific animal abuse cases arise, Pasado’s Safe Haven is ready to provide professional assistance. Chief Dennis Taylor of the Granite Falls Police Department stated that he has not dealt with an animal abuse case of this magnitude before and he is “thankful beyond words to Pasado’s” for assisting his department with this case. He felt that Pasado’s was a “Godsend,” and Pasado’s is equally thankful for the opportunity to serve the local community and be a voice for those who have suffered greatly.
